Stock market today: Nifty50 and BSE Sensex, the equity benchmark indices, started Wednesday on a negative note, slipping in trade. While Nifty50 was near 25,650, BSE Sensex was down over 120 points. At 9:16 AM, Nifty50 was trading at 25,679.65, down 53 points or 0.20%. BSE Sensex was at 83,500.40, down 127 points or 0.15%.Analysts are of the view that the non-directional market structure suggests limited near-term cues for sustained momentum, according to market participants.Asian equities edged higher in early trade, while Japanese stocks continued their record-setting rally, supported by a softer yen. In contrast, US markets closed lower overnight, weighed down by declines in financial stocks after remarks from JPMorgan executives intensified concerns around US President Donald Trump’s proposal to cap credit card interest rates. The US CPI print reinforced market views that the US Federal Reserve is likely to keep interest rates unchanged at its upcoming meeting, even as the White House continues to press for rate cuts.On the domestic front, foreign portfolio investors remained net sellers, offloading shares worth Rs 1,500 crore on Tuesday. Domestic institutional investors provided some support to the market, with net purchases amounting to Rs 1,182 crore.(Disclaimer: Recommendations and views on the stock market, other asset classes or personal finance management tips given by experts are their own.
