Gold futures surged on Friday, lifting the metal into its third straight session of gains as traders reacted to weak US economic data that boosted expectations of an imminent interest rate cut by the Federal Reserve. On the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX), the December gold contract rose by Rs 520, or 0.43%, to settle at Rs 1,21,133 per 10 grams. The contract saw a volume of 13,446 lots, indicating strong participation from market players. Silver prices advanced alongside gold. The December silver futures contract climbed by Rs 1,598, or 1.09%, to Rs 1,48,667 per kilogram, traded across 19,396 lots. Analysts say the precious metals market is reacting to signs of stress in the US economy.On Comex, gold futures for December delivery increased by $13.02, or 0.33%, to $4,004.02 an ounce. Silver futures on Comex also moved higher, up 0.65% at $48.26 an ounce. According to market analysts, the softer US labor figures have strengthened the view that the Federal Reserve may cut rates sooner than expected.
