Divyenndu Sharma reflects on struggling days, compares an actor's life to a 'banjara': 'There will be days where you would feel extremely low'

Actor Divyenndu Sharma’s journey in Bollywood is a story of patience, self-belief, and slow but steady growth. While many actors look for overnight success, Divyenndu’s career shows that finding your space takes time, learning, and the courage to keep going even when things feel uncertain.Sharma first came into the spotlight with ‘Pyaar Ka Punchnama’ in 2011. However, a major shift came later with the series ‘Mirzapur’, where Divyenndu played Munna Tripathi. The role marked a defining turn in his career and showed a completely different side of him as an actor.

Name Change: Know why Divyendu Sharma became Divyenndu

Divyenndu Sharma reminds actors that the road is long

In a recent chat with The Free Press Journal, Divyenndu spoke openly about struggle, failure, and what it truly means to choose the life of an actor. He shared how actors must accept both success and failure as part of the same journey. The ‘Chashme Baddoor’ actor said, “Remember that it’s a long road. Try and have a vision for yourself, and to achieve that vision, it’s not going to be easy. People will ask you to go a certain way. But always remember that if you have chosen this, success or failure is a part of it, but it’s the ride you have signed up for. So there will be days where you would feel extremely low, and other ones where you would feel extremely happy, like after giving a good audition.”

Divyenndu Sharma speaks up about auditions and reality

Divyenndu also spoke about how even positive moments in the industry can be uncertain. A good audition may bring happiness, but it does not always lead to a role.He added, “But that good audition might not turn into a good role or a character at all. So try and find happiness in what you’re doing now. I understand that you have to survive in the city as well. But always remember that you’re doing this so-called struggle for yourself; it’s not like you’re saving the country. What you’re doing is to achieve your own dreams.”

Sharma compares actor’s life to ‘banjara’

One of the most striking parts of Divyenndu’s advice came when he described the life of an artist. He explained how actors must accept uncertainty and movement as part of their journey. “Once you think that you’re an actor, an artist, then you’re a banjara in life. Don’t try to look for places where someone would come and offer you water or food or anything. Just be in that nasha and just carry on. But yes, having said that, it’s very important to look at yourself in the mirror and actually see what ability you have,” he mentioned.Divyenndu also addressed the pressure of comparison that many actors feel when others move ahead in their careers. He went on to explain, “You might feel with some people reaching somewhere that why you haven’t reached their level, but rather than that back yourself with a lot of training- do theatre, go to a film school, keep performing. Because those things are the things which really helped me when I was not getting work. My training gave me confidence that even if I’m not getting certain characters, but I know my shit. I have worked hard for it. So yes, training would come in handy a lot.”

Divyenndu Sharma on the work front

Sharma was recently seen in the Tisca Chopra-directed film ‘Saali Mohabbat’. The film also stars Radhika Apte, Anurag Kashyap, Anshumaan Pushkar, Sharat Saxena, and Sauraseni Maitra, with a special appearance by Kusha KapilaThe film is currently streaming on Zee5,
