‘Border 3’, the war film starring Sunny Deol in the lead, may have been witnessing a noticeable slowdown in its second and third weeks at the box office, but the film has still managed to make its way into the Rs 300 crore club at the domestic box office. On Saturday, Day 16, ‘Border 2’ earned an estimated Rs 4.25 crore India net collection, after seeing an impressive weekend jump. The film had a relatively slow start to its third week, collecting just around Rs 2.85 crore on Friday. ‘Border 2’ crosses Rs 300 crore mark
With its Day 16 earnings, the film’s total India net collection now stands at approximately Rs 301.5 crore. As per reports, the film’s all-India gross has crossed Rs 360 crore.
‘Border 2’ worldwide box office collections
While the majority of its box office business has come from the domestic market, ‘Border 2’ has also performed well overseas, earning an estimated Rs 52 crore. This takes its worldwide box office collection to around Rs 412 crore.
‘Border 2’ among highest earning films
The Anurag Singh directorial has steadily made its way up the list of the highest-grossing Hindi films in India. After breaking into the Rs 300 crore mark in good time, the film has now surpassed the lifetime collections of major blockbusters such as ‘Dhoom 3’ (Rs 290 crore) and ‘Sultan’ (Rs 300 crore). The film is now eyeing to overtake the lifetime collections of ‘Padmaavat’ (Rs 303 crore), followed by ‘War’ (Rs 318 crore) and ‘Bajrangi Bhaijaan’ (Rs 320 crore).As per trade reports, ‘Border 2’ is expected to add another Rs 15–20 crore to its India total, potentially taking its lifetime domestic collection to around Rs 325 crore before it runs out of steam.
‘Border 2’ to face competition from ‘Oh Romeo ‘
The film had a strong opening during the Republic Day weekend and enjoyed an undisputed run at the ticket windows. However, it is now expected to face fresh competition next week with the release of Shahid Kapoor’s ‘O Romeo’.
