Matt Damon recalls working with Clint Eastwood
While talking to Conan O’Brien on his podcast ‘Conan O’Brien Needs a Friend’, the actor revealed that Eastwood was very strict while on the sets of ‘Invictus.’ “I was playing a South African rugby player. And that’s a really tough accent to do,” Damon revealed, further sharing that he practiced a lot in order to get it right. He practiced and trained for almost 6 months to get the accent right, and worked with famous dialogue coach Tim Monich.““The very first take, I did it. Meanwhile, I’ve done this so many thousands of times. I have a number of different ways I’m thinking of doing the scene. He goes, ‘Cut. Print. Move on.’ And I go, ‘Hang on. Hang on. Boss, you want to do another one?’ And he goes, ‘Why?’ You wanna waste everybody’s time?’” Damon added, sharing that Clint knew what he was doing while directing the film.He then compared his experience with the director in their second film, ‘Hereafter.’ He cited that while filming ‘Invictus’, almost all of the scenes were done in one go. With ‘Hereafter’, however, since ‘The Rip’ actor was sharing the screen with a 9 year old child who had never acted before, they did more than 40 takes patiently.
