The “Shape of You” singer explained that he has ditched his ipad and is no longer plugged into social media, preferring real-life human connections. For Sheeran, his friendship with Swift is rooted in genuine moments, like their recent four-hour catch-up, rather than constant digital updates every now and then. He emphasized that their relationship is effortless and enduring, always picking up right where they left off. “I’ve actually got rid of the iPad as well, so I’m not on anything anymore,” Sheeran shared. “My way of viewing it is like me and Taylor are mates, and I will see her, and I saw her a week after that (engagement) happened. So I did that interview, and I saw her, and you talk in person…I kind of feel like, being in touch with everyone, you lose actual human connection. Like, if I see Phil, I’m there, and I’m talking to him, and we’re catching up. So, when I saw Taylor, we had a four-hour catch-up,” Sheeran further explained, “It’s life stuff rather than, I don’t know, you know what I mean? I’m not self-conscious about my relationship with her. We’ve been friends for very, very many years. We’re super close, and we see each other when we see each other. And when we see each other, we lock back into where we left off.”

Back in October, Swift appeared on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon” and explained why Sheeran didn’t hear about her and Travis Kelce’s engagement from her before it went viral on cyberspace. She revealed, with a laugh, that Sheeran is famously phone-free, so he never popped up in her recent texts. “I have a perfect explanation…he doesn’t have a phone,” Swift said. “I’m going through my texts and being like, ‘Who have I texted within the last month in my life?’ And he just wasn’t there., To get in touch, Swift explained, you have to email him, and if you want to FaceTime, someone has to track down an iPad and hand it to him as you would to a kid. “You have to email him,” Swift shared. “If you want to set up a FaceTime, he has to find an iPad. They have to give it to him like he’s a child that you give the iPad to.” Swift gushed about Sheeran being one of her favorite people. To her, he’s family. She loves him, even if he’s off the grid. “This is one of my absolute favorite people on the planet,” Swift shared. “When the news came out, I was like, ‘We forgot to call Ed! Oh, no!’ He’s like family. I love him.
