Two people were killed and 11 others wounded after a mass shooting at a large weekend party in southeastern North Carolina.According to Robeson County Sheriff Burnis Wilkins, officers were called to a rural property on Dixon Drive, just outside Maxton, early on Saturday morning. In total, 13 people were shot, with several in critical condition. “There is no current threat to the community as this appears to have been an isolated incident,” the sheriff’s office said.More than 150 people reportedly fled the scene before law enforcement arrived. “Additional information will be released as it becomes available,” the sheriff’s office added on social media. “Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims and their families during this difficult time.”Maxton lies about 95 miles (150 kilometers) southwest of Raleigh, near the South Carolina border. Authorities have urged witnesses to contact investigators.
